Our Leadership

Community Leadership

Leadership in our church is largely provided by dedicated members who serve on committees commissioned to lead the congregation in ministry and administrative areas. A copy of our organizational structure can be found here:

Meet The Team

Pastor Evelyn Lemons.jpg

Rev. Dr. Evelyn Lemons

Senior Pastor

Rev. Dr. Evelyn McAdams Lemons, also known as Pastor Evelyn comes to us a prayer warrior!

Education: 1987 NCSU B.S. in            Agricultural Education, 1990 M.S. in Agricultural Education also NCSU, 1993 Graduated Duke Divinity School with M.Div., 2016 Graduated from Bethel University, St. Paul Minnesota with Ed. D.

She is married to Jeff and he continues to work for the Stokes County Sheriff in his retirement. He is in his 41st year of service there. They have been married 19 years. Their son, Joey Lemons, is the current Sheriff of Stokes County and he is married to Katie.

Evelyn and Jeff live in Walnut Cove in Stokes County.  She has commuted while at several appointments and enjoys driving and uses the time for spiritual growth by listening to Bible readings and sermons on podcasts. Her appointment to Boone was 107 miles one way, and she managed a great appointment there for 5 years, and in her last appointment for 8 years to Chestnut Grove Methodist Church in King she had a 30 minute daily commute each way.

In the last month of her previous appointment, there were 16 professions of faith and baptisms. Evelyn comes to us with 30 years of experience as a Methodist Pastor.  She is currently an elder in the GMC and is serving in leadership with them helping to launch our new denomination. Her number one passion in ministry is sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. She hopes to join with Pleasant Garden in celebrating the great work that has been done here in the past and build on the work you are already doing by partnering with you in sharing Jesus to our community and to the world.

Evelyn loves her work as a pastor and in her time of  recreation enjoys several hobbies like hunting, fishing, quilting, walking daily, and cooking. Her hobbies have helped her keep good mental health through this past year while her previous church, like you, has been going through disaffiliation. She expresses immense joy that we can move forward together to see people saved,  discipled, and taught how to bring in new people to do the same. Disciples for Jesus Christ make disciples, and this is our work together. She is excited to be with us!
