Our Leadership

Community Leadership

Leadership in our church is largely provided by dedicated members who serve on committees commissioned to lead the congregation in ministry and administrative areas. A copy of our organizational structure can be found here:

Mark Weekley

Senior Pastor

Mark has served as pastor of Pleasant Garden UMC since 2014.  During his 25+ years of ministry he’s served 5 other congregations across the Western NC Conference, and is pleased to have served here the longest.  He was educated at Appalachian State (1989) and Candler School of Theology at Emory University (1994), but has been a lifelong student of Jesus.  He strives to find grace and peace in Him each day, and to lead God’s people to follow Jesus, make disciples and transform the world.  Mark finds the Bible to be his primary source of inspiration, along with worship in many styles of music and service to others as Christ calls.  He loves it when a plan comes together, likes a hike/walk/run outdoors to get his mind right, and enjoys taking in a game of baseball with friends or family.  Mark has 3 adult children.

Office Administrator

& Youth Leader

A former local missionary in Pocket 22, Laurie's heart resides in  service-based ministry. She holds a degree in Christian Studies and Youth Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. When she's not keeping the logistics running smoothly or planning curriculum, Laurie is chasing after her three young kids, hiking with her husband Josh, or creating art with watercolors & ink.

Bob Eberhart

Bob keeps the lights on - literally.

As church treasurer, he handles day-to-day finances, and as a tech wiz, he manages the sound & light booth during Sunday morning worship. Bob is also active in leadership with our UM Men's group, and he and his wife Delores, serve on various other committees at PG UMC.

Bob is currently enjoying the perks of being primarily retired, and loves spending time at home with his wife and cats, and visiting with his grandkids.
